PSF: Cat in the House

So last weekend when our friends came through, since one of them was moving, he had his cat with him.

We didn't know this until the morning when he went to give it water in the car.  It had it's own space in the back window (and yes pet lovers, our weather is mild and he left some windows cracked).

So we had to bring it in and meet... Annika!  Which is my brother's girlfriend's name so kind of odd!  She was a very nice cat and actually did okay on the leash.  You can't really tell, but it's kind of a bungee leash so it doesn't hurt her if she pulls.

It was kind of cool to have a cat in the house... until Cory petted it and then there was a mass of cat hair floating around.  Oy!  I grew up with a cat and a dog in the house so you think I wouldn't mind, but I just can't do pet hair everywhere!  Cory loves pets and I would like to have a cat and perhaps a dog... but I'm not sure how to reconcile that with my need to have a clean house!  Ideas, suggestions?

And this week I'm helping Cecily host Photo Story Friday!  So if you have pictures to post please add your link below!

  1. Wow, what a huge cat! Cats are not so much work if they go out. Go for it!

  2. Do what we do best: enjoy the pet and the fretting! I do it every day, hugging my dogs and then fret all day about their fur all over the house and grumble as I clean. But I always set it aside when they run up to me and snuggle/nuzzle... have a blessed weekend!

  4. I am trying to reconcile that very same thing! I would love to have a dog, but at the same time I love having a clean house. Not sure if I could let some things go....

  5. How fun for your little guy to enjoy the cat. I grew up with cats and dogs and now I'm allergic to them. good luck with your decision.

  6. The joy cats bring to my life far outweighs the inconvenience of dealing with the fur! Try a shorthair breed!

  8. Okay, who says you can't have a pet and a clean house? To me there is no difference in the cleanliness because we all clean the house on a weekly basis at least, so while you're cleaning, you will just make the pet stuff part of the chores. It's not that much work. One thing that will help is having your pet indoors. It keeps them cleaner and it's safer too.
