Awana Awards Night!

We ended our Awana club early this year due to spring sports and some of the leaders coaching and being in the local play.

The girls were so proud of their ribbons for finishing their first Cubbies books.  They love teacher Krista there in front of them too.

Noah finished his entire first Sparks book and reviewed it and was getting started on the "extra credit" book.

Cory didn't finish his book for T&T, but according to the director the books were really hard so no kids finished them and they are actually revamping the curriculum next year.  He also got a late start due to soccer season and missing the first 6 weeks or so in the fall.

My Awana crew!

Daddy is a leader so Mommy got a free evening once week about half the time this year.  They all love it!

It's the End of the Year

And all those awards and special programs to go with it.

Last Wednesday was the awards night at Awana:

Noah had his first year in Cubbies.

Here they are all showing off their singing skilz.

Such a ham!

Cory had his first year in Sparks although he was in the second year because we skipped last year with the girls.

He did get his whole book done and started the second one so we might be able to get one and 3/4 books done next year and finish on time!

Daddy helped with the oldest age group and they were very proud of him!

Thursday all the first graders put on the Ocean Commotion music show at school.

Cory did not have a speaking part, but when I went in that afternoon to help in his classroom they discovered that one of the kids who DID have a speaking part wasn't going to be there that night.  His teacher asked me if we were and gave him the line.

We worked on it on the way to his eye exam and then home.  He delivered!  Loud and clear and with plenty of attitude.  It helped that it was a line about sharks!

Part of the way through the hat got pretty hot so he took it off and was swinging it around...

Then when he put it back on he did this...

My son, the fish head!

And this one is the natural ham so he needed his photo taken too.  It's very sad that we are going to be out of town the week there is a drama camp for 4-7 year olds next month...

I guess they come by it naturally, their Dad loves acting!

An Apple from the Teacher

Last week on the same day as the Veteran's Day assembly there was an awards assembly at 8:30am.
And yes I actually made it there with the three little ones only a few minutes late!

Cory got An Apple from the Teacher for being a hard worker and always turning in his best work.  Also for getting better about getting started so he can finish his work on time!  The teacher loves his company, but not at recess when it's her break time!  My little social man!

He didn't know I was coming so it was fun when he finally realized I was there!  I'm surprised he didn't pick up on his sisters fussing in the stroller!

I'm very impressed with his teacher after having been in the classroom a couple of times.  She's a very good teacher and very kind with the students.  Cory always has nice things to say about her.  First grade has been good to us so far!

Friendship through blogging?

It's true! I have made some fun friends through my blog. A little peak into their world, sometimes half a world away!

Such is the case today since my friend Grace of Sandier Pastures (from Dubai!) has given me this lovely award.
This award is in Portuguese and translated says, “This blog invests and believes, in proximity” [meaning, that blogging makes us 'close'].

In some ways I have actually become closer through blogging to some friends in real life! So the people I am passing this award on to are mostly them, as well as those who I have developed a relationship with through comments and emails.

You're supposed to pass this on to eight friends... but I'm an over-achiever!

I bestow this award upon: Mama Griffith, Rachel, Katie, Mrs. Chappy, Molly, and Audra - all friends in real life - as well as Blithe, Jenn, Mrs. Mustard, and Dr. Goofy Girl (who created my blog design!)
Honorary awards (those who don't have blogs) go to Lindsay, Jenny, and Leah! (you know who you are!)

You guys are awesome community builder friends!

Mi Blog es Brillante!

Sweet! I love a little Spanish love! My Friend Amy said that my blog is Brillante and gave me this fancy award! Isn't it cool?

Amy and I have a little Spanish connection anyway. I "stumbled" across her blog and then discovered that she's the sister of the principal's wife where I went to school in Costa Rica. (did you follow that?) She and her sister, Leah, and their mom also write over at the Friendly Book Nook.

So, once an award is received, the rules are:

1. Put the logo on your blog.

2. Add a link to the person who awarded you.

3. Nominate at least seven other blogs.

4. Add links to those blogs on your blog.

5. Leave a message for your nominee on their blog.

Here are my nominations...

How can you not like any blog that is named after the first line of that famous poem, Jabberwocky? T'was Brillig is one of my "daily" reads. I have to check and see if she's written something witty or just plain inspiring!

The tagline of her blog says, "Sometimes sweet, sometimes tart, but always real" and I have yet to read anything she wrote that wasn't otherwise! If you aren't already, you should really be reading Antique Mommy! (go read the story of why she calls herself that!)

Life with a little one can be challenging at times. Life with a little one with special needs can be especially challenging. But according to Tammy at Praying for Parker that makes it all the more rewarding. She shares her life with us so we can share her life with her sweetheart named Paker.

Cecily has three children. And a husband. And herself! They all provide endless blog fodder for My Chaos, My Bliss. And I love her photo story Fridays (although I can never get my act together enough to participate!)

On the other end of the spectrum is Grandma Henke. She shares memories of her life, funny stories about her grandkids (she's got a new one!) and she's writing a book!

Then there's a blog I just found recently. Heather writes at Autumn At Oak Hollow. She's fantastic! I have so many blogs in my reader already that to add a new one they really have to capture my attention with just a few posts. She did!

and finally... if you want a laugh for the day? Go visit Jim, aka Busy Dad! The chronicles of he and Fury with their legos and their dogs and their... what little boys say are sure to bring a chuckle to your day!

I think that about covers it!

Yes, I know, I'm still out of town. So if I nominated you and you haven't gotten word of it... that's because I haven't left you a comment yet! Will do as soon as I get home! Lots of love!

Share the Love

The lovely Jill over at The Diaper Diaries shared this bloggy award with me. She said I was a good commenter! :)

(See, if you comment you get stuff!)

This award is about sharing the blogs that you love, but it's also about organ donation. It's about sharing a little piece of yourself. If you're interested go read the post about the creation of this award! (just do it, organ donation is awesome!)

The rules of this award are: SHARE THE LOVE!!! Share this award with all those blogs out there that you love. All the people who make you smile. All those that make you laugh. All those that make your day. All those that leave uplifting comments on your blog. **All I ask, is that you include a link to this post with the award and ask your recipient to do the same**

I'm choosing to share the love with my recent commenters, Kailani, Angie, Amy, Grace, and Jennifer! Thanks for being part of my online community!
